Test Case Selector and Classifier

Overview

Test Case Selector and Classifier is a tool to help test architects to create test plans by selecting the best test cases according to different criteria. The tool is composed by a selector module and a classifier module.

The Selector module produces a relevance ranking for tests cases based on four selection criteria: total execution number, failure rate for execution, number of unique defects found and regression level. Each criterion gives a score for each test and the user assigns a weight to each criterion. The final score for each test is calculated by a weighted average of points.

The Classifier module is responsible for test cases classification according to Boundary, Load, Stress, Performance, Negative and Interaction classes. This classification is automatic and reduces substantially the time that was spent for architects in this activity. It implements Learning Machine techniques, specially Text Classification. In this way, this tool provides the users select test cases from a test plan according their classes restrictions, choosing the percentage of each class that they want to compose the final test plan.
