Com o crescimento de experimentação em engenharia de software, tem sido necessário postar artefatos de avaliação utilizados na pesquisa que levou ao artigo, de forma a facilitar a validação e replicação do experimento. Por exemplo, em ECOOP'2013 houve um comitê de avaliação de artefatos: To reward creation of artifacts and replication of experiments, authors of accepted research papers can have their artifacts (tools, data, models, videos...) evaluated by an Artifact Evaluation Committee. Artifacts that pass muster will be recognized formally, and be fast-tracked for additional presentation.
